Being in love with Miranda really made me hyper aware of how love isn’t just frothy, light and romantic. It tests you to your core when you’re really in love with someone and all of your shadow selves come to the foreground when you’re in that relationship. And that’s really what I wanted to talk about, so it was really a strange confluence of fiction and life.

I think at first, we both read each other’s scripts a lot and were very involved and then, as time went on, we realized that it maybe wasn’t the best use of our relationship, which is not to say that we don’t ask for feedback now and then, but I think we’re much more careful about it because truth be told, you really want the emotional support from the person more than the work support. Because you don’t want to abuse it – it’s sort of the most precious thing in the world, this person, their energy and their openness to you –, so I think we kind of naturally shifted towards something a little more…polite.
